Thanasis Karathanos (Greek: Θανάσης Καραθάνος, Berlin, 1967) is a Greek-German film producer. He has participated in over 40 films, both Greek and foreign, some of which have won awards. He has won an award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards for his participation in the production of Tulpan (2008), an award at the Jerusalem Film Festival for his participation in the production of Ajami (2009), as well as an award from the Hellenic Film Academy for his work Wednesday 04:45 (2016). He is a member of the European Film Institute and the German Film Academy. He also participated in the production of Paul Verhoeven's multi-award winning work, Elle (2016). His career in cinema began in the late 1990s. After finishing his studies at Panteion, he began his master's degree in Germany, but never completed it, in order to pursue a career in cinema. Born in Berlin, he came to Greece at the age of 2, only to later return to Germany, where since 1998 he has maintained his own production company called Twenty Twenty Vision. In 2003, he co-founded the company Pallas Film.
