Bullet Train (2022)

Bullet Train is the kind of movie that grabs you by the collar and says, “Relax—you’re in good hands,” delivering a slick, neon-bright cocktail of action, comedy, and chaos that never loses its sense of play. David Leitch turns a single high-speed setting into a pressure cooker of collisions and coincidences, staging fights with the crisp rhythm of a punchline and the pop of a graphic novel come to life. Brad Pitt is irresistibly game as Ladybug, a weary pro trying (and failing) to keep things peaceful, while the colorful supporting cast keeps the energy bouncing from car to car. If you want grounded realism, look elsewhere—but if you’re in the mood for a stylish, riotously entertaining thrill ride, this train is absolutely worth boarding.

Bullet Train is trying to be a slick, hyper-stylized action-comedy: a bunch of colorful killers crammed into one speeding location, trading quips and carnage like it’s a live-action graphic novel. If you need tight storytelling and characters with real depth, this can feel like style doing all the heavy lifting—convoluted plotting, repetitive set pieces, and a smug “aren’t we clever?” vibe that wears thin. Some viewers also bounce off the film’s reliance on familiar stereotypes and questionable cultural bits, which can sour the fun. Still, if you’re happy to switch your brain off for Brad Pitt’s laid-back charm, punchy choreography, and a few genuinely entertaining character moments, it can be a noisy, disposable ride.
