Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (born 16 January 1982 in Hillerød) is a Danish actress. Graduating from the Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2007, she began her career in theatre. She first drew attention on stage portraying Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago in Copenhagen and subsequently in London's West End. She achieved international prominence playing the role of journalist Katrine Fønsmark in the political drama series Borgen (2010–2022). In cinema, she portrayed the artist Marie Krøyer in the biographical film Marie Krøyer (Balladen om Marie Krøyer, 2012) and held roles in international productions such as Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) and Automata (Autómata, 2014). On television, her credits include the series Vinyl (2016), the drama Greyzone (2018), and Oxen (2023).
