Isi & Ossi (2020)

Isi & Ossi is a fizzy, sharp-edged rom-com that knows how to flirt with fairy-tale privilege while still landing a few jabs of satire where it counts. The chemistry between Lisa Vicari and Dennis Mojen gives the movie its spark: their bargain-basement “deal” romance crackles with attitude, then gradually reveals surprising tenderness without getting syrupy. Oliver Kienle keeps the vibe brisk and modern—part glossy wish-fulfillment, part street-level scrappiness—so the laughs and feelings arrive in the same breath. It won’t be for everyone if you’re allergic to strong profanity or prefer your romances purely earnest, but if you like your love stories with bite, heart, and a playful class-clash twist, it’s an easy, satisfying watch.

Isi & Ossi is aiming for a glossy, modern German rom-com about class clash, mutual hustling, and two young adults trying to buy their way into a dream before feelings complicate the deal. The problem is the setup is familiar and the movie often drags scenes past their punchline, so the comedy can feel like it’s working overtime without consistently landing. If you’re allergic to “fake relationship turns real” beats, heavy profanity, and a two-hour runtime that doesn’t always justify itself, this will test your patience. On the plus side, the leads have enough charm to keep it watchable, and the boxing/culinary ambitions give it a bit more texture than the average throwaway romance.
