Andy Samberg’s laid-back charm and Cristin Milioti’s wonderfully grounded spark make their chemistry feel earned, while J.K. Simmons drops in like a wildcard who raises the stakes in all the right ways. If you prefer your romances purely sweet or your sci‑fi strictly serious, it may not be your exact flavor—but if you want something clever, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt, this is an easy yes.

Palm Springs is clearly aiming to be a slick, modern riff on the time-loop rom-com—fast, funny, and oddly heartfelt under the chaos. The problem is that if you’re sensitive to “we’ve seen this before” storytelling, it can feel like a Groundhog Day remix that never fully decides whether it wants to be a raunchy comedy, a romance, or a sci‑fi thought piece. Some of the character work and themes stay on the surface, and the movie’s vague, hand-wavy approach to its rules may read as pretentious rather than intriguing.
