The Car: Road to Revenge is the kind of gloriously pulpy midnight movie that commits to its bonkers premise and dares you not to grin: a grimy cyberpunk city, a driverless killer car, and vengeance delivered with a metallic snarl. Director G.J. Echternkamp leans into the comic-book sleaze and neon-noir atmosphere, staging crunchy action and splattery horror with the confidence of someone who knows exactly what lane he’s in. Grant Bowler gives the mayhem a surprisingly grounded center, while the film’s dystopian vibe and B-movie bravado make it perfect for viewers who miss the days when genre movies were unapologetically weird. It’s not for the squeamish or anyone allergic to low-budget rough edges, but if you want a fast, nasty, sci-fi-tinged revenge ride, this one delivers.

The Car: Road to Revenge is clearly trying to mash up grindhouse vengeance, killer-car horror, and neon-drenched cyberpunk into a pulpy, over-the-top ride. The problem is it often feels like style is standing in for storytelling, with choppy direction and murky moment-to-moment action that can make it hard to tell what’s happening or why you should care. If you’re coming for a coherent plot, sharp world-building, or suspense that actually builds, this will likely test your patience. But if you can tolerate (or even enjoy) low-budget rough edges and you mainly want a gory, ridiculous concept executed with occasional visual flair, it may scratch that late-night B-movie itch.
