The problem is the film often feels jumbled, with self-important direction and a narrative that doesn’t quite cohere, so the emotional impact gets diluted by familiar beats and on-the-nose choices. If you’re sensitive to “great man” storytelling, the protagonist’s portrayal can come off cliché and a bit too central, as if the tragedy needs a savior figure to be legible. Still, there are moments of stark imagery and earnest outrage that may land if you’re mainly here for the history and don’t mind a dramatization that plays it safe.
