Nitesh Tiwari captures the chaotic, lived-in energy of hostel life with crackling one-liners and an ensemble that feels like real friends, then lets that camaraderie echo into adulthood in a way that lands with surprising emotional weight. Sushant Singh Rajput anchors it with an easy charm and quiet sincerity, while Shraddha Kapoor brings a grounded sweetness that keeps the nostalgia from turning syrupy. It does deal with a suicide attempt and the pressure-cooker culture around exams, so it may not be for everyone on a tough day—but if you want a film that makes you laugh, ache a little, and leave feeling lighter, this one earns its crowd-pleasing reputation.

Chhichhore is clearly aiming to be a warm, crowd-pleasing blend of campus nostalgia, friendship comedy, and a sincere message about failure not defining your worth, framed around a father trying to pull his son back from the edge. When it works, the camaraderie is likable, the college set pieces have energy, and the emotional intent is genuinely compassionate. But the film can feel engineered to hit “inspirational” beats on schedule, with contrived turns and a timid, programmatic tone that may test your patience if you prefer sharper writing or subtler drama. If you’re sensitive to suicide-related content or you don’t enjoy long, message-forward Bollywood dramedies that lean on sentiment, this might not land for you, even if the heart is in the right place.
