Explained

What people think about Dual

Dual is the kind of sly, razor-clean sci-fi that sneaks up on you: a high-concept premise delivered with such deadpan calm that every absurdity lands twice as hard. Riley Stearns turns cloning and mortality into a crisp, satirical comedy of manners, where the future looks eerily like the present—just with better paperwork and worse ethics. Karen Gillan is terrific in a dual role, finding two distinct souls in the same face, while Aaron Paul brings a bruised, oddly tender edge to the film’s off-kilter training-and-reinvention vibe. It’s funny in a dry, unsettling way and occasionally bursts into sharp violence and nudity, so it won’t be everyone’s comfort watch—but if you like your laughs dark and your ideas sharper than the blade, it’s a wickedly memorable ride.
