It’s not for you if you’re allergic to sentiment or Bollywood-style contrivances, but if you want a warm dramedy with real heart and an actor at the top of his powers, this one earns its tears and its smiles.

The problem is the film often feels like it’s juggling too many ideas at once—broad comedy, social commentary, and heartfelt drama—without stitching them together smoothly, so the tone can swing abruptly and the plot can feel conveniently patched together. If you’re expecting a tight, consistently funny dramedy or a sharply written coming-of-age arc, the pacing and contrivances may test your patience. Still, if you’re mainly here for an earnest family bond and can forgive uneven execution for a few genuinely tender moments, it has enough heart to land.
