Former P.O.W. Jack Calgrove moves Heaven and Earth to be reunited with his children following the Civil War. After returning home, Jack discovers that his wife has tragically died and his children, presumed to be orphans, are heading deep into the West on a train crossing enemy lines, with the intent of being placed into new homes. Calgrove and another soldier team up with a troop of Native American sharpshooters and a freed slave as they try to stop the train.

Explained

What people think about Hostile Territory

Hostile Territory has the kind of old-fashioned, propulsive Western heartbeat that’s easy to root for: a wounded man with nothing left but love, chasing a sliver of hope across a country still raw from the Civil War. Brian Presley’s film leans into dusty landscapes, tense pursuit, and a sincere, pulpy momentum that keeps the story moving while letting the grief and longing underneath register as more than mere motivation. What really gives it snap is the unlikely coalition at its center—soldiers, Native sharpshooters, and a freed slave—forming a rough-edged fellowship that adds texture and urgency without turning the movie into a lecture. If you’re looking for a prestige deconstruction of the genre, this may feel straightforward, but if you want a heartfelt, action-driven Western inspired by real history, it delivers the kind of ride that’s hard to shake.
