Jungleland is the kind of gritty American road drama that sneaks up on you: it looks like a fight movie, but it’s really a bruised, intimate story about loyalty, control, and the desperate bargains people make when they’re out of options. Max Winkler gives the film a moody, lived-in atmosphere—neon bars, backroads, and cheap motels that feel like purgatory—while Charlie Hunnam and Jack O’Connell turn the Kaminski brothers into something raw and recognizable, a bond equal parts love and damage. Jessica Barden’s Sky isn’t a tagalong so much as a spark that exposes what’s been festering between them, and the tension builds with the steady inevitability of a storm. It’s not for viewers looking for a triumphant sports arc or a feel-good ending, but if you want strong performances and real emotion wrapped in a tough, noirish vibe, it lands its punches.

Jungleland is aiming for a bruised, gritty character drama about brotherhood, desperation, and the way loyalty can turn into a cage, and you can feel the filmmakers reaching for something raw and tragic.
