Explained

What people think about Crypto

Crypto has the scrappy, slightly off-kilter energy of a small-town noir that stumbles into big-league danger, turning cryptocurrency jargon and bank paperwork into surprisingly propulsive suspense. Director John Stalberg Jr. leans into a guilty-pleasure vibe—part rural drama, part crime thriller—where odd little character moments and looming corruption keep the story humming even when the web gets satisfyingly convoluted. Beau Knapp makes the young investigator feel more human than heroic, and the film’s chilly atmosphere and sudden bursts of menace give it real bite. It’s not for everyone—there’s graphic violence and a grim edge—but if you like twisty, mid-budget thrillers that play a little strange and still deliver the goods, this one is an easy late-night watch.
