D-Railed (2018)
Passengers on a murder mystery train that crashes into a river must decide whether to risk waiting for help in the wreckage or take their chances in the murky depths below.
What people think about D-Railed
D-Railed is the kind of lean, scrappy horror ride that wins you over by throwing its characters into a nightmare you can practically feel: cold metal, rising water, and the awful certainty that help may not come in time. It takes a familiar setup and keeps sharpening it with smart little turns, building tension not just from what’s out there in the dark, but from the human arguments and snap decisions that happen when survival becomes a vote. The creature work has an enjoyably nasty imagination, and the film’s festival-bred confidence shows in how briskly it moves and how game the cast is for the escalating panic. If you’re looking for prestige horror, this isn’t it—but if you want an efficiently nasty, twisty survival chiller that’s easy to watch and hard to shake, it’s a very good time.
D-Railed is clearly aiming for a claustrophobic, survival-horror twist on a gimmicky murder-mystery train ride, with the crash setting up a simple “stay put or dive into the unknown” dilemma. The problem is the execution: the acting is rough, the plot gets muddled instead of tense, and the pacing often feels like it’s stalling rather than building dread. Add in cheap-looking effects and an ending that many viewers find more deflating than shocking, and it’s hard to recommend unless you’re very forgiving of low-budget limitations. If you enjoy so-bad-it’s-fun creature features or can coast on the premise alone, you might get a few guilty laughs, but anyone looking for tight suspense or competent horror craft should probably skip it.
