Get In (2019)
When the Diallo family return home from their holiday, they find the locks have been changed and the new occupants maintain they are in "their home". With no one to turn to, patriarch Paul gets closer to Mickey, a shady local man with a penchant for all things extreme and illegal. Soon the once anti-violent teacher is approaching the point of no return…
What people think about Get In
Get In grabs you by the collar with a nightmare premise that feels uncomfortably plausible, then tightens the screws with a raw, lived-in French grit that makes every scene hum with dread. What makes it special isn’t just the suspense, but the way it turns a fight over a home into a pressure-cooker of class, bureaucracy, and simmering rage, building an atmosphere so tense you can practically feel the walls closing in. The film’s unsettling vibe and rough-edged visuals give it a bruising authenticity, watching an ordinary man inch toward choices he never imagined he’d make. It’s not a cozy thriller and it doesn’t always play nice, but if you want something provocative that lingers after the credits, this one gets under your skin.
Get In is clearly aiming for a tense home-invasion nightmare about a decent man pushed into moral collapse, and the setup is strong enough to hook you. The problem is it asks you to swallow a lot of implausible behavior and coincidences, then lurches between slow-burn frustration and sudden bursts of violence that can feel more gratuitous than earned. If you’re looking for a smart, grounded thriller with believable characters and a satisfying payoff, this may test your patience and leave you cold by the ending. If, however, you can tolerate logic gaps and want a nasty, escalating descent with a few genuinely tense moments, it might still scratch that dark-thriller itch.
