Don’t Tell a Soul is the kind of lean, nasty little thriller that grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go, built around one deliciously simple hook: a moral dilemma that keeps curdling into something worse. Alex McAulay directs with a confident, stripped-down intensity, turning a patch of woods and an old well into a pressure cooker where guilt, desperation, and sibling loyalty collide. Jack Dylan Grazer and Fionn Whitehead make the brother dynamic feel painfully real, but it’s Rainn Wilson who surprises most—bringing a raw, unpredictable edge that makes every exchange feel like it could tip toward empathy or menace. It’s not for viewers who shy away from harsh language and ugly choices, but if you like thrillers with real heart beating under the suspense, this one sticks the landing.

Don’t Tell a Soul is aiming for a grim, moral-pressure-cooker thriller about desperation, brotherhood, and what people do when they think they can’t get caught. The setup is strong and Rainn Wilson brings a surprisingly effective, uneasy edge, but the movie leans so hard into bleakness and cruelty that it can feel more punishing than suspenseful. A few story turns land like they’re reaching for shock over payoff, and the execution doesn’t always dig deep enough to justify how dark it gets.
