Demián Rugna directs with a cruelly confident sense of timing, using sharp camerawork and sinister sound design to make the unseen feel inches away, and when the movie does show you something, the imagery is vivid enough to linger long after the lights come up. The investigation angle gives the terror a satisfying momentum, but the real hook is how relentless and inventive the set pieces are, delivering scares that feel primal rather than mechanical. Fair warning: it’s intense, occasionally graphic, and not for viewers who prefer “cozy” supernatural chills—but if you want a modern fright machine that actually earns its reputation, this one bites down and doesn’t let go.

Terrified is trying to deliver a no-nonsense, nightmare-fuel haunted-neighborhood mystery, and when it goes for pure scare tactics, it absolutely commits with some genuinely unsettling imagery and jolts. The problem is the story doesn’t hold your hand: it can feel messy, confusing, and more like a string of horrific set pieces than a coherent investigation you can really sink into. The pacing also lurches, and the characters are mostly there to react rather than draw you in, so if you need strong emotional grounding, you may end up detached.
