Killerman (2019)

Killerman has that gratifying, grimy New York pulse where every alleyway feels like it’s hiding a double-cross, and it wastes no time dropping you into a breathless, street-level thriller. The hook is deliciously simple: a money launderer wakes up with no memory and a fortune in cash and drugs, and director Malik Bader turns that setup into a tight, propulsive chase full of sharp turns, nervy humor, and dialogue that snaps with bruised bravado. Liam Hemsworth holds the center with a rattled, desperate edge, while Emory Cohen and the supporting cast give the film its scrappy personality, making the danger feel immediate rather than movie-mythic. It’s undeniably rough around the edges and very R-rated, but if you’re in the mood for a lean, nasty little crime ride with a surprisingly satisfying finish, this one goes down fast.

Killerman is clearly aiming for a gritty, neon-soaked New York crime thriller where one bad decision spirals into paranoia, betrayal, and a desperate race to survive. The problem is it leans hard on familiar amnesia-and-dirty-cops beats without adding much personality, so the twists can feel more like genre homework than genuine tension. Pacing is the real killer here: it stretches a fairly straightforward story close to two hours, and if you’re not already hooked by the vibe, it can start to feel repetitive and oddly flat. That said, there are a few solid action bursts and a committed turn from Liam Hemsworth, so it may work as background-noisy, late-night pulp—just don’t expect a sharp, memorable thriller.
