MILF (2018)
Three childhood friends - Elise, Sonia and Cecile - leave for a summer in the South of France to help clear Cecile’s holiday house before it is put up for sale. There, they soon become the prime targets of three horny young men, for whom these single forty-year-old women are much more attractive than girls their age.
What people think about MILF
MILF is a sun-drenched French Riviera escape that treats its cheeky premise with more tenderness than you’d expect, letting the laughter arrive alongside a surprisingly warm sense of grown-up longing. Axelle Laffont directs with a light, breezy touch, and the chemistry among Virginie Ledoyen, Marie-Josée Croze, and Laffont gives the film its real pleasure: three friends rediscovering confidence, desire, and the simple thrill of being seen. The vibe is playful and summery—equal parts flirtation, friendship, and wistful end-of-vacation glow—never pretending to be profound, but often landing on something quietly moving. It’s not for anyone allergic to frank sexuality, nudity, or a knowingly raunchy setup, but if you’re in the mood for a sweet, adult rom-com with a little bite and a lot of sunshine, it’s an easy trip to take.
MILF is aiming for a breezy, sun-drenched French Riviera rom-com about three forty-something friends reclaiming their confidence through flirtation with younger men, and on paper that could’ve been sharp and liberating. In practice, it often plays more like a thin vacation fantasy: the jokes land softly, the characters don’t deepen much beyond the premise, and the “MILF” framing can feel more objectifying than playful depending on your tolerance for that vibe. If you’re looking for smart, modern commentary on age, desire, and double standards, this may leave you rolling your eyes rather than laughing. Still, the cast is likable and the scenery does some heavy lifting, so it can work as low-stakes background viewing if you just want something light and glossy.
