Mukkabaaz is aiming for a gritty underdog sports drama that also takes swings at caste politics, power, and forbidden romance, and you can feel the ambition in every round. The problem is it’s overstuffed: the story sprawls, the runtime drags, and the film sometimes leans into melodrama when it should tighten the emotional punches. Some of its social commentary can feel more sketched than deeply explored, and if you’re hoping for a fresh take on the boxing-movie formula, it doesn’t always innovate. Still, there’s raw energy in the performances and the fight-world atmosphere, so if you can tolerate a messy, intense, sometimes rambling ride, you may find it worth the time—just don’t expect a lean, focused knockout.
