To avoid jail, a tax-dodging businessman is sentenced to a year of community service in a homeless shelter.

Explained

What people think about Io sono Tempesta

Io sono Tempesta is the kind of comedy that wears a sharp suit and hides a surprisingly big heart underneath, using laughter to sneak in a timely look at who gets protected by money and who gets left out in the cold. Marco Giallini is magnetic as the swaggering businessman forced into a homeless shelter, and he plays the character’s ego, panic, and reluctant awakening with the easy command of a great comic actor who knows exactly when to let the drama land. Daniele Luchetti directs with an “opera buffa” lightness—brisk, humane, and just biting enough—that keeps the film entertaining even as it nudges you to notice the social imbalance in the background. If you want broad slapstick, it may feel too grounded, but if you like smart, accessible Italian comedy with real-world sting and a star performance at the center, this one’s a very good bet.
