It’s ambitious and occasionally cryptic by design, so if you want straightforward scares with tidy answers it may frustrate you—but if you like your horror stylish, nerve-racking, and layered, this is absolutely worth the trip.

Us is Jordan Peele aiming for a big, bold horror allegory—part home-invasion nightmare, part societal mirror—built around an instantly gripping setup and a few genuinely nerve-rattling sequences. The problem is that the movie’s symbolism often does more heavy lifting than the story mechanics, so if you need your mysteries to add up cleanly, the later explanations and ending may feel strained rather than satisfying. It juggles so many themes at once that it can come off more like a mood piece with ideas than a tight, coherent thriller, which some viewers find distancing.
