What people think about Night School
Night School is the kind of broad, crowd-pleasing comedy that sneaks up on you with a surprisingly warm heart: it’s loud, fast, and shameless about going for the laugh, but it also believes in its characters enough to let them be more than punchlines. Kevin Hart’s frantic energy is perfectly matched by Tiffany Haddish’s take-no-prisoners toughness, and together they turn a familiar “back to class” setup into something that feels alive, fueled by sharp timing, colorful misfits, and a steady stream of gags. Beneath the PG-13 rowdiness and crude jokes, there’s a sincere undercurrent about second chances and learning to own your weaknesses instead of hiding them. If you’re allergic to big studio comedy or prefer subtle humor, it may feel too broad—but if you want an easy, upbeat watch with real chemistry and an unexpectedly encouraging message, this one earns its diploma.
Night School is clearly trying to be a feel-good, underdog comedy about second chances, learning struggles, and a loudmouth hero finally growing up. The problem is it plays like a bunch of comedy sketches stitched together, with a predictable story and a tone that lurches between heartfelt and obnoxiously broad without earning either. Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish have moments of energy, and the premise has real potential, but the writing doesn’t give them enough sharp jokes or believable momentum to land consistently. If you like big, noisy PG-13 studio comedies and don’t mind a messy plot as long as the cast is game, you might coast along; if you’re looking for clever humor or a tighter, smarter crowd-pleaser, this will probably feel like wasted talent.
