Rojas stages the rural setting with a grim, suffocating dread, then tightens the screws until the film feels less like a roller-coaster and more like a confrontation, where brutality has history behind it. What makes it linger is the political undercurrent: the violence isn’t random, it’s presented as inherited, normalized, and terrifyingly close to the surface. Be warned, though—this is extreme cinema with graphic, taboo material, so it’s not for everyone, but if you’re looking for horror that’s unnerving because it has something to say, it’s hard to shake.

Trauma is trying to fuse a rural home-invasion nightmare with a grim political undercurrent about inherited violence in Chile, aiming for shock as a form of confrontation.
