A Heavenly Christmas is the kind of holiday movie that feels like a warm living-room lamp: gentle, glowing, and quietly persuasive about second chances. Its high-concept setup—a driven woman learning to be an angel—could have been flimsy, but the story holds together with an easy confidence, letting character moments do the heavy lifting instead of winking at its own sweetness. Kristin Davis brings a likable edge to the transformation, Eric McCormack gives the romance an earnest, grounded charm, and Shirley MacLaine floats through it all with the kind of wry grace that makes even the most sentimental beats feel earned. If you’re allergic to sincere, made-for-TV Christmas magic, it may be too soft-spoken for you—but if you want a cozy, good-hearted romance with a fantasy glow and a real emotional center, this one delivers.

A Heavenly Christmas is aiming for that cozy, Hallmark-style redemption story: a career-obsessed woman gets a supernatural wake-up call and learns to value people over productivity, with romance and Christmas spirit doing the heavy lifting. The problem is the script leans hard into “adorable” dialogue and tidy life lessons, so if you’re allergic to cute, inspirational speeches, you’ll feel your eyes start to roll. It also asks you to ignore a few logic bumps in how certain real-world situations play out, which can pull you out of the story if you like your holiday fantasies at least loosely believable. Still, Kristin Davis is likable, Shirley MacLaine adds some welcome authority, and if you want something gentle, clean, and predictable to have on in the background, it does the job.
