Office Uprising (2018)

Office Uprising is the kind of gleefully unhinged genre mash-up that takes the soul-crushing absurdity of office life and turns it into a full-throttle, blood-splattered release valve. Lin Oeding keeps the pace snappy and the tone mischievous, letting Brenton Thwaites play the lovable slacker hero while Jane Levy and Karan Soni bring real personality and comic bite to the chaos. The action is inventively scrappy, the gore is cartoonishly committed, and the movie’s best joke is how corporate policy can feel just as monstrous as the “infected” employees. It’s not for the squeamish or anyone allergic to crude humor and mayhem, but if you want a high-energy horror-comedy that knows exactly what it is and has a blast being it, this one’s an easy yes.

Office Uprising is clearly aiming for a gleefully stupid, blood-soaked “corporate culture is hell” mashup of action, horror, and workplace comedy, and on paper that’s a fun pitch. The problem is the movie’s tone wobbles: the jokes are hit-or-miss (often miss), and the horror angle never feels as sharp or tense as it wants to be, so you’re left with an uneven ride rather than a satisfying genre blend. If you’re coming for genuinely scary moments or consistently clever satire, this will likely feel messy and a bit mediocre. But if you just want a breezy, gory B-movie with some likable performers (Jane Levy in particular) and a few energetic set pieces, it can still work as a low-stakes late-night watch.
