Maggie Q carries the film with a cool, credible physicality—every fight feels earned—while Samuel L. Jackson brings a bruised warmth to the mentor bond that gives the story its emotional spark. Martin Campbell keeps the pacing brisk and the action stylish, and Michael Keaton slides in with a sly, unpredictable charm that turns the cat-and-mouse tension into something flirtier, stranger, and more fun than you’d expect. It does follow familiar genre grooves and it’s undeniably violent (with some nudity and strong language), but if you want a polished, adult thriller that moves like a blade, this one delivers.
