Love is blooming at Sakuragaoka High School. Natsuki Enomoto has finally mustered the courage to confess to her childhood friend, Yuu Setoguchi. However, in the final moments of her confession, an embarrassed Natsuki passes it off as a "practice confession." Oblivious to her true feelings and struggling with his own, Yuu promises to support Natsuki in her quest for love. While Natsuki deals with her failed confession, fellow classmate Koyuki Ayase struggles with his own feelings for Natsuki. Despite his timidness, he is determined to win over her heart. This movie follows Natsuki as she dreams of one day ending her practices and genuinely confessing to Yuu. Meanwhile, close friends also find themselves entangled in their own webs of unrequited love and unspoken affections.

Explained

What people think about I've Always Liked You

I’ve Always Liked You captures that painfully sweet moment when your heart finally leaps—and your mouth immediately tries to take it back, turning a confession into “just practice” with the kind of cringe-laced charm that feels almost too real. With warm, expressive animation and character designs that radiate sincerity, it turns high school romance into something tender rather than trivial, letting every hesitation and hopeful glance land with surprising weight. The vibe is gentle, earnest, and quietly funny, building a well-shaped emotional arc about perseverance and the courage it takes to be honest when it matters. If you’re allergic to soft, teen romance or prefer cynicism to sincerity, it may feel a bit sugary—but if you’ve ever fumbled your feelings, this one understands you.
