Escape Room is the kind of slick, crowd-pleasing thriller that turns problem-solving into a full-body adrenaline rush, dropping you into a series of ingeniously designed set pieces that feel like nightmares engineered by a master magician. Adam Robitel keeps the tension tight and the momentum relentless, letting the puzzles unfold with just enough clarity to make you lean forward and play along without ever feeling safe. Taylor Russell anchors the film with a grounded, sympathetic presence, and the ensemble sells the mounting panic with a competence that keeps the stakes feeling real even as the scenarios get wild. It can be a bit predictable if you’ve seen a lot of modern horror-thrillers, but if you want a smart, fast, and genuinely fun ride, this one delivers.

The problem is it often plays like a greatest-hits compilation of genre tropes, with puzzles that feel more convenient than clever and characters who don’t get enough depth to make you truly invested. As it ramps up, the logic can get wobbly, and the final stretch leans into twists that may strike you as more preposterous than satisfying. If you’re happy with a fast, glossy, turn-your-brain-off ride, it’s serviceable—but if you want airtight plotting and genuinely inventive mystery-solving, this probably isn’t your room.
