Savage Dog (2017)

20171h 35mNRActionDrama

A story set in Indochina in 1959, a lawless land controlled by the criminal class: Vietnamese warlords and European war-criminals. Den-Dhin-Chan Labor Camp is run by four such dangerous men. The worst prison in the land, it is here that an Irish, former-champion boxer Martin Tillman has made a name for himself fighting tournaments, on which wealthy criminals gamble in high stakes events. When Tillman is due for release, he just wants to return home, but the corrupt forces running the jail will do everything in their power to keep him locked down. When all that Tillman holds dear is taken away in a vicious act of violence, he is forced to confront the men responsible and take his revenge. The birth of a legend.

Explained

What people think about Savage Dog

Savage Dog is the kind of bruising, old-school action picture that doesn’t just stage fights—it makes you feel every thud, every gasp for air, every hard-earned inch of survival. Set in a sweaty, lawless Indochina where cruelty is currency, it wraps Scott Adkins’ astonishing physicality in a gritty, pulpy atmosphere that’s equal parts prison-yard myth and revenge-fueled reckoning. The action is consistently brutal and cleanly delivered, the kind that leaves you wincing and cheering at the same time, and it’s all in service of a simple, satisfying drive that never forgets its emotional burn. If you’re looking for subtlety or a gentle ride, this isn’t it—but if you want a visceral, no-nonsense showcase of pure screen toughness, it earns its legend the hard way.
