The vibe is glossy and mean in the best thriller way, with an eerie score that nudges you forward like a hand at your back, and it builds its shocks with a patient, atmospheric confidence rather than cheap noise. Fair warning: it’s decidedly adult and can be upsetting in its nudity and violence, but if you’re in the mood for a stylish, high-concept horror tale with bite, it’s hard to look away.

Look Away is clearly aiming for a glossy, teen-friendly spin on the “evil double” idea, mixing coming-of-age insecurity with supernatural horror and a dash of body-image nightmare fuel. The problem is that once the mirror-twin hook is established, the story leans on familiar beats and rushes through big revelations without giving them the depth or logic needed to really land, so the shocks can feel more like plot mechanics than earned dread. India Eisley does solid work selling both sides of the character, and there are a few moody, stylish moments, but the writing and ending are likely to leave you feeling teased rather than satisfied. Also, it’s not a casual watch: there’s explicit nudity in a disturbing context and some nasty violence, so if you’re here for clever psychological horror with tight storytelling, this may waste your time.
