What elevates it beyond a mere endurance test is Gaia Weiss, who sells not just the panic but the raw, private grief that keeps surfacing between dangers, giving the film a dramatic pulse amid the terror. If you’re claustrophobic or want spacious, slow-burn sci-fi, this may be too suffocating—but if you like high-concept thrillers that squeeze you hard and still leave room for emotion, it’s a gripping ride.

Meander is clearly aiming for a tight, single-character survival nightmare with a sci‑fi twist, using its claustrophobic tube-maze and ticking-clock traps as a pressure cooker for grief and trauma. The problem is that the “puzzle” aspect often feels more like a string of familiar hazards than a genuinely clever escalation, so if you’re hoping for the satisfying logic and payoffs of a great trap thriller, you may end up impatient. It’s also a pretty joyless ride by design, and the film leans into symbolism and ambiguity in a way that can make the climax feel vague rather than cathartic. Still, Gaia Weiss commits fully and the cramped production does create real tension, so it’s worth it if you want bleak, breathless endurance horror more than a clean, rewarding mystery.
