Fast X (2023)

Fast X is the rare blockbuster that knows exactly what it is: a turbo-charged, self-aware carnival of mayhem that invites you to grin at the absurdity even as it floors the accelerator. Louis Leterrier keeps the pacing breathless and the set pieces gleefully outsized, while the franchise’s “family” heartbeat still thumps beneath all the crashing metal and globe-hopping chaos. The real spark, though, is Jason Momoa’s villain—stylish, unpredictable, and having such a good time he turns every scene into a wicked little show. If you’re allergic to big, loud, physics-defying fun, this won’t convert you—but if you want a movie that commits, unapologetically, to being a great time at full volume, it delivers.

“Fast X” is trying to be a loud, heartfelt victory lap for Dom and the crew—bigger stakes, bigger emotions, and another round of physics-defying mayhem. The problem is it’s so overstuffed with characters, side missions, and exposition that the story starts to feel like it’s idling in place, repeating franchise beats without delivering many truly fresh set pieces. If you’re not already invested in the “family” mythology, you’ll likely find the runtime long and the plot convoluted rather than exciting. Still, if you come purely for familiar faces, glossy spectacle, and soap-opera-on-nitro energy, it delivers that comfort-food vibe—even if it’s not the series at its sharpest.
