Anchored by soulful work from Takeru Satoh, Masaki Suda’s easy charisma, and Kasumi Arimura’s aching restraint, the film hums with the bittersweet tension of friendships tested by ambition, insecurity, and unspoken feelings. It’s not a fireworks drama—more a slow, honest burn—but if you’ve ever felt the pressure to look “fine” while figuring out your future, it lands with a stingingly relatable grace.

Someone is clearly aiming for a quietly observant drama about the pressure-cooker of Japanese job hunting, where polished smiles and upbeat tweets hide a lot of private anxiety. The problem is it can feel more like a series of conversations and glances than a story that really builds, so if you need momentum or big emotional payoffs, you may find it slow and a bit repetitive. It also keeps its characters at an intentional distance, which reads as subtle to some and frustratingly opaque to others. That said, the cast sells the tension well, and if you’re into low-key, slice-of-life realism about early-adulthood insecurity and social performance, it’s a solid, thoughtful watch.
