Max Pachman keeps the movie lean and relentless, building dread in clean, efficient strokes until the tension feels like a vice, while Lynn Collins brings a chilling polish that makes the menace feel uncomfortably plausible. The problem is it often trades nuance for blunt messaging and shock beats, so the tension can feel more like a checklist of cruelty and jump scares than a story that earns its big moments. If you’re hoping for a smart, layered thriller that really interrogates its subject matter, you may find it predictable and frustratingly shallow.
