Harvest Moon (2015)
When her family goes bankrupt, privileged city girl Jen Stone travels to the country to try and fix up a struggling pumpkin farm that her father bought as an investment to get her money back. Not everyone is on board with her changes, least of all Brett, the farm's handsome manager. By working with what she knows best, she discovers the magic of pumpkin skincare and turns the struggling farm around while also falling in love.
What people think about Harvest Moon
Harvest Moon is the kind of comfort-watch that feels like stepping into a postcard of crisp air, porch lights, and second chances—sweet without being saccharine, and earnest about the small satisfactions of starting over. Jessy Schram brings a lively, likable edge to Jen’s fish-out-of-water journey, and the movie has fun letting her city smarts collide with the rhythms of farm life, especially as a practical rivalry with the steady, charming Brett turns into something warmer. Director Peter DeLuise keeps the tone gently funny and sincerely romantic, with a cozy, family-friendly glow that makes it easy to watch with anyone in the room. If you’re looking for high drama or sharp twists, this isn’t that, but if you want a clean, cute, country-tinged romance that leaves you smiling, it delivers exactly what it promises.
Harvest Moon is clearly aiming for cozy, squeaky-clean comfort: a big-city makeover story where hard work, small-town charm, and romance fix everything by the final act. The problem is it’s so safe and formulaic that you can practically tick off the plot points in advance, with few surprises and characters who rarely feel more complicated than their Hallmark-style roles. If you need originality, sharper writing, or any real tension, this will likely feel like background noise rather than a movie you’re glad you spent time on. That said, if you’re specifically in the mood for a G-rated, low-stakes autumn romance with pleasant leads and pumpkin-farm scenery, it delivers exactly that.
