Collateral Beauty is the kind of earnest, big-hearted drama that dares to ask cosmic questions in the middle of ordinary New York life, and then answers them with performances that feel bruised, human, and strangely comforting. Will Smith brings a raw, quiet sincerity to a man hollowed out by grief, while Edward Norton and Kate Winslet help turn the film into an ensemble meditation on how people cope when they can’t say the right thing but still need to be saved by connection.
