Denial wants to be a clear, accessible courtroom takedown of Holocaust denial, and it largely succeeds at turning a complicated legal battle into something watchable and righteous. The catch is that it’s a fairly conventional “trial movie,” so if you’re hoping for deep nuance, messy moral ambiguity, or a more daring approach to its subject, it can feel a bit broad and by-the-numbers. Some character beats and side threads play like standard inspirational-drama padding, and the tone occasionally leans into “performance” more than subtlety.
