Follow (2015)

Follow feels like one of those under-the-radar thrillers that grabs you by the collar with mood and never quite lets go, turning a simple blackout-and-wake-up premise into a slow tightening vise of dread. Its greatest strength is atmosphere: the film lingers in uneasy silences and unsettling details, letting tension build naturally rather than relying on cheap jolts, and the direction has a confident, patient hand that keeps you leaning forward. The performances help sell the spiraling paranoia, grounding the fear in something human even as the situation grows stranger. It’s not a perfectly airtight story, and if you need every answer neatly tied up you may bristle, but if you’re in the mood for a suspenseful, off-kilter horror-thriller with a distinctive vibe, it’s an easy recommend.

Follow (2015) is clearly aiming for a paranoid, slow-burn horror-thriller where one strange event unravels a guy’s reality and keeps you guessing. The problem is it rarely turns that premise into satisfying momentum: the pacing drifts, the plot feels thin and occasionally confusing, and the characters aren’t developed enough for the stakes to land. Dialogue can come off unnatural, which makes the whole thing feel more low-effort than eerie, even when it’s trying to build tension.
