Federico D’Alessandro keeps the vibe sleek and nerve-jangling, blending sci-fi chill with home-invasion dread, while Ed Skrein brings a cold, human menace that’s arguably more frightening than the machines. It’s not for viewers who want expansive world-building or nonstop action, but if you’re on the fence and crave a thriller with a real emotional hook and a sharp Frankenstein echo, this one’s an easy “press play.”

Tau is clearly aiming for a sleek, contained sci‑fi thriller about captivity, surveillance, and the uneasy bond between a human and a boxed-in A.I., and that premise is genuinely promising. The problem is it often feels like a remix of better genre stories, with dialogue that can sound clunky and a villain who’s more “generic evil tech guy” than a truly unsettling presence. The A.I.’s behavior and emotional growth may also strike you as convenient rather than credible, which blunts the tension when the movie most needs you to buy in.
