Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser (2015)

Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser knows exactly what it is: a loud, proudly lowbrow victory lap for an underdog who keeps smiling no matter how hard the world kicks him. David Spade leans into Joe’s sweet-natured sincerity, and the movie has a goofy, time-warp energy that turns its fish-out-of-water premise into a parade of absurd run-ins, slapstick chaos, and oddly warm-hearted devotion to family. The vibe is rowdy and juvenile—packed with profanity, crude jokes, and gross-out gags—yet there’s a simple, earnest pulse underneath it that wants you to root for this mullet-headed optimist. If you loved the first film’s brand of dumb-but-sincere comedy (or just need something easy, silly, and unapologetically ridiculous), this one delivers; if that humor makes you wince, it won’t convert you, but it will at least be honest about the ride you’re taking.

Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser is clearly trying to bottle the first film’s dopey charm and turn it into a time-travel misadventure with David Spade’s lovable-loser optimism front and center. The problem is it often feels like a pile of disconnected sketches stretched to feature length—loud, digressive, and weirdly low-effort, with jokes that land more out of repetition than wit. If you’re not already a Joe Dirt diehard who’ll happily take any new hangout time with these characters, the frequent gross-out gags, heavy profanity (including slurs), and scattershot pacing will test your patience. There are a few mildly amusing moments and Spade still commits, but this is more “leftover sequel for fans” than a comedy that earns your time on its own.
