Assassination Classroom (2015)

Assassination Classroom takes an utterly bonkers premise—a moon-shattering tentacled being insisting on becoming a homeroom teacher—and plays it with such straight-faced charm that it turns into something genuinely delightful. Eiichiro Hasumi keeps the pace snappy and the tone buoyant, mixing sci-fi spectacle, scrappy action, and surprisingly warm classroom camaraderie so the film feels like a feel-good underdog story disguised as an assassination mission. The humor lands because the characters do, too: these “reject” students aren’t just targets-in-training, they’re a messy, likable team, and Koro-sensei’s oddball mentorship gives the movie an unexpectedly big heart. If you’re allergic to heightened, anime-style absurdity in live-action, it may not convert you—but if you’re even slightly game, it’s imaginative, energetic, and hard not to enjoy.

Assassination Classroom (2015) is clearly trying to bottle the manga/anime’s odd charm: a goofy, superpowered teacher, underdog students, and a mix of slapstick, action, and surprisingly sincere mentorship.
