Deathgasm (2015)

Deathgasm is the kind of horror-comedy that feels like it was made with a grin, a raised devil-horns salute, and a sincere love for the outsiders who find their family in loud music. Jason Lei Howden turns a teen metalhead misfit story into a blood-splattered, amp-cranked joyride where the jokes land, the pacing rarely lets up, and the mayhem is staged with a gleeful, practical-effects punch that’s hard to resist. Beneath the demonic chaos, it’s surprisingly warm about friendship, first crushes, and the thrill of discovering the one thing that makes you feel alive—then pushing it way too far. Fair warning: the gore is extreme and the humor is proudly crude, so if you don’t like your laughs mixed with buckets of viscera, this won’t convert you; but if you do, it’s a riot with real heart under the headbanging.

Deathgasm is clearly trying to be a love letter to metalheads and old-school splatter comedy, mixing teen misfit energy with demonic chaos and a “play the forbidden song” hook. When it leans into the mayhem, it’s inventive, gleefully disgusting, and occasionally genuinely funny in that stupid-at-2-a.m. way. The problem is you’ll sit through a fairly draggy setup and some thin, stock characters to get to the good stuff, and the humor is aggressively crude enough that it’ll feel more juvenile than clever if you’re not on its wavelength. If you don’t enjoy extreme gore, tasteless gags, and a plot that’s basically an excuse to escalate the mess, this won’t be for you—but if you want a loud, messy, metal-fueled splatter ride, it delivers exactly that.
