Blood Father (2016)

Blood Father is the kind of lean, hard-hitting thriller that doesn’t waste a scene: it grabs you by the collar with pulpy momentum and then surprises you with a bruised, human heart beating underneath. Mel Gibson gives a ferociously committed performance as a man trying to outfight his past as much as his enemies, and the father-daughter dynamic with Erin Moriarty adds real emotional stakes to the grit and gunfire. Director Jean-François Richet keeps the action raw and close, favoring tense, scrappy confrontations over glossy spectacle, while the dialogue has a tough, lived-in snap (with William H.
