The Target (2014)

It takes a simple, pressure-cooker setup—an ordinary doctor forced into extraordinary choices—and shoots it through with propulsive pacing, sharp performances, and action that’s staged to be felt, not merely watched. The vibe is tense, efficient, and relentlessly entertaining, the sort of movie that makes you check the time only because you can’t believe it’s still accelerating. The Target is clearly aiming for a high-speed, pressure-cooker thriller where an ordinary doctor gets dragged into a violent conspiracy and has to outsmart both criminals and cops. The problem is that the plot often feels like it’s forcing twists rather than earning them, and the action can get pretty illogical, asking you to ignore obvious questions just to keep the chase moving. The villain doesn’t help—he’s played so big and theatrical that it can undercut the tension instead of sharpening it. If you’re happy with slick pacing, loud stakes, and a serviceable cat-and-mouse setup, you’ll get some pulpy fun, but if you need tight logic and a more refined edge, this may feel like a rougher, less satisfying ride.
