Alexandra Shipp brings a sharp, likable drive to Dani, a New York talent dropped into Atlanta’s high-stakes band culture, where pride and tradition turn every rehearsal into a performance and every performance into a proving ground. The movie’s vibe is bright and competitive—part campus comedy, part underdog drama—stitched together by musical set pieces that deliver that satisfying “you can feel it in your chest” sensation. It’s a TV-movie sequel, so it’s not as polished or iconic as the original and the hazing/party elements won’t be for everyone, but if you want a fun, rhythmic, feel-good watch with real pep and personality, it hits the beat.

If you’re hoping for the snap, charm, and big-screen punch of Drumline (2002), this may feel like a lesser remix that never quite finds its rhythm. Still, if you mainly want marching-band spectacle, a likable central performance from Alexandra Shipp, and you don’t mind strong language, some sexual content, and hazing/drug-and-drinking elements, it can work as lightweight background entertainment rather than a must-watch sequel.
