In Darkness We Fall (2014)

20141h 16mHorrorAdventure

Three boys and two girls go backpacking from the city to a paradisiacal island. There they rent motorcycles, travel around the prettiest and most remote spots, camp out in the woods, on a coastal cliff, get drunk and swim in the sea. The following day they enter a deep, maze-like cave to explore it and get lost inside.

Explained

What people think about In Darkness We Fall

In Darkness We Fall takes a simple vacation premise and turns it into a nerve-tightening descent that feels uncomfortably real, trading cheap jump scares for the slow, suffocating dread of being trapped with dwindling options. The sunlit freedom of the island makes the plunge into the cave’s black maze hit harder, and the film leans into atmosphere so effectively you can almost feel the air thinning as panic, paranoia, and desperation creep in. It’s at its best when it becomes less about monsters and more about what people become when the light, the signal, and the easy answers disappear—building to a third act that’s grimly satisfying in its commitment. Fair warning: if claustrophobic settings or survival horror with harsh, mature themes aren’t your thing, this will be a tough sit, but for genre fans it’s an unsettling, propulsive ride well worth the plunge.
