Palm Swings (2017)

Palm Swings has the rare knack for treating sexual curiosity not as a cheap punchline, but as a real, messy, funny pressure test for a relationship, all wrapped in that sun-bleached Palm Springs vibe where temptation feels like part of the weather. Sugar Lyn Beard is the movie’s secret weapon, playing innocence and intrigue in the same breath, and the supporting cast—especially the confidently magnetic presence around the neighbors—keeps the film humming with flirtatious energy. It’s a breezy, adult comedy-drama that’s more interested in chemistry and choice than shock for shock’s sake, even when it goes boldly explicit. Fair warning: the sex and nudity are truly heavy and front-and-center, so if you’re not up for that, it won’t be your kind of date night—but if you are, it’s a surprisingly watchable, charismatic little provocation.

Palm Swings is clearly aiming to be a cheeky, sun-soaked relationship comedy-drama about temptation, boundaries, and what a marriage can survive when the neighbors are far more adventurous. The problem is it leans so heavily on explicit sex and nudity that the story, character development, and emotional stakes often feel like an afterthought, and the acting and dialogue don’t consistently sell the “real couple in crisis” angle. If you’re hoping for a smart, funny, or genuinely intimate exploration of non-monogamy, this may come off more like softcore window dressing with a rushed, flimsy plot. That said, if your main goal is erotic content with a light narrative thread and a Palm Springs vibe, it delivers that without much darkness or intensity.
