It’s a PG-13 horror-thriller that prefers creeping unease and disorienting suspicion over blood-soaked spectacle, building suspense through sound and the sense that the environment itself is watching you. If you want clean answers or subtle, slow-burn art horror, it may not be your flavor, but if you’re on the fence and crave a moody, location-driven scare with a strong lead, this one delivers.

The Forest wants to be a moody, grief-soaked descent into a real-world location with heavy baggage, mixing mystery with supernatural dread and a “don’t trust what you see” premise. The problem is it mostly settles for loud jump scares, familiar horror beats, and plot turns that feel forced, so the atmosphere never quite earns the emotional weight it’s aiming for.
