Bermuda Tentacles (2014)

Bermuda Tentacles is the kind of cheerfully ridiculous sci-fi you put on when you want the promise of the title delivered with zero hesitation: a downed Air Force One, a frantic naval rescue, and something enormous waking up under the sea. It plays like a late-night creature-feature with a straight face, finding unexpected fun in its own absurdity and occasionally landing a performance that sells the stakes just enough to keep you hooked. The vibe is pulpy, stormy, and gleefully over-the-top, the sort of pleasant surprise that reminds you why low-budget sci-fi can be such a comfort food. If you’re looking for realism or subtlety, steer clear—but if you want an entertaining B-movie that knows exactly what it is, this one earns its runtime.

Bermuda Tentacles is trying to be a pulpy, high-stakes “save the President” creature feature with military hardware, ocean terror, and a simple survival hook. The problem is the execution: the effects are distractingly cheap, the acting is stiff, and the plot lurches from scene to scene with the kind of logic that makes you stop caring who lives. If you’re expecting convincing suspense, coherent storytelling, or even basic military believability, this will feel like a rough draft that somehow got filmed. The only reason to press play is if you genuinely enjoy bargain-bin monster movies for the unintentional comedy and don’t mind laughing at it more than with it.
